  1. your idel ip should remain same for the IOS you are using . few suggestion for setting up GNS3 efficiently 1. unzip the IOS file so that everytime router boot up the ios it do not have to decompress it. 2.open a new project choose a single router you want to use in future labs. press start in console window reach up to user mode. then close console window . start task manager and keep and eye on cpu % it should be 80+ something now right click router and calculate idelpc once it is done it will return 10 values with * on some try changing them one by one ...the value which drop the cpu utilization below 5-10 is the one you should keep. with 2 gb ram and 13 routers i think it will be a burden on ur computer if you are doing BGP labs ...for BGP use less ram consuming IOS.
  2. with static IP and need to log in remotly using public internet ...i would suggest using VPN with IPsec they are very easy to set up even if u r not an expert in cisco using SDM GUI. by setting VPN and correct access u can also give your comapany teleworkers to log in into corporate network from anywhere in the world ...just with a help of high speed internet.
  3. this configuration will not work as ur LAN and address range contain the address you are trying to give to your WAN side . to make this configuration work try to make a realistic situation where your WAN side is given a public ip and if private then of different class like 10.0.0.1 & 10.0.0.2 /24 make a working configuration and then we can help with telnet and ping questions.
  4. i really like video guru jeremy.........he has explain the NBMA topologies to the best of his effort.........just watch the video 2-3 times and 'ull catch the trick behind all topologies for a short cut ... anything thing which has " point " in network type means no dr/bdr anything which has "nonbroadcast" in network type means....statically configure neighbours.......
  5. just include a frame-relay to it own ip in each router... like if routerA has 172.16.2.1 interface frame-relay map ip 172.16.2.1 dlci <whatever dlci this router has> same wise do it on router b and router c and i am sure you will be able to reach own router interfaces. this is a wrok around when working with frame relay.....
  6. hello Raxa .....people here dont understand a question .....let me explain this is not a multianswer question instead a network is given 10.0.0.0 / 8 and these question are asked abt it 1) Four First Subnet since this is a simple class a network ...only one subnet is present 2) Last Subnet same as above answer 3) First and Last Host of each Subnet 10.0.0.1,10.255.255.254 4) Broadcast of each Subnet 10.255.255.255 5) Host per Subnet 16777214 this question will help you if the mask is /16 or greater then /8
  7. well cannot say myself as a senior here ...but on the same boat as you are ....preparing for BCMSN .....well i am till now satisfied with GNS3 the best IOS to use for switch world is 3725 which you can find in this form easily ....this IOS allow you to configure vlan from global configuration mode ....which is very much like a switch .... update me if you find any more simulator for BCMSN....would love to hear and try them as well..............till now BCMSN (vlans,STP) seems very easy ....hope this whole series is a cake walk
  8. talent ...thnx for the reply...the config was optimal ...it was a PPP setting in dvr itself which was blocking any traffic outside local network ......i disable it ...and everything is working fine ............no need of calling ISP
  9. i think you have to play with the metric of ospf to make all the links of same cost .....then it will behave like distance vector ......just like if we leave the default reference bandwidth as 100 Mbps ...then thr will be no difference in 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps or 100 Gps.... so if i change the reference bandwidth according to my structure needs to make all link speed correspond to one ...i can make ospf somewhat look like distance vector .... well rest we can hear from our gr8 friends here ......
  10. my friend this is not a big problem ....try to catch the method of implimenting any procedure .....like if u have to implement frame relay .....what things you should do first,second..etc etc ..... to mug up commands ...use flash cards.......build up labs ...repeat those labs ...every few days in starting ......this will come up ....while working on labs again and again .......or if you can do this in your job on daily basis...... just keep your mind at peace ...and remmber ...you are already a ccna ...just hold on to it .....dont be dishearten....
  11. i think talent pk and lord was very close to the answer ..........these kind of question requries logical reasoning .....as to why and how ospf works ........ the first question was really simple as .....VL the router treat themselfs to be directly attached (logically as the word describe virtual) so their is no need to send multicast packet ...as you only have one router at other end. the rest are already answered... let me add something to this thread ....a kind of query i am working on... i have redistributed rip into ospf and added a line as distance 125 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 10 -> (10 is access-list here) access-list 10 permit 192.168.1.0 0.255.255.255 so now my question is what ever rip networks which are redistributed into ospf and match 192.168.1.0 network will be advertise with AD 125 ??? to neighbour routers .....or just for this router the AD is changed to 125 (for 192.168.1.0 network) need your input talent pk and lord
  12. people do confuse on load balancing and back up path ...as i can se above some are voting for ANSwer B and some with Ans D.....well i just try to explain in simple words for eigrp variance is simply a multiplier used for load balancing for a network with different cost to reach it... so in this question 20 is the lowest cost to reach the network ....now 20 * 3 = 60 .....so all the path whose FD is less than this 60 will be used in load balancing ...offcourse the balancing is percentage wise ...(smart cisco developers) ....and since in this example all the FD are less then 60 ...so you think D is write answer ........but no ....correct answer is B as the path along the bottom router is not fulfilling the AD < FD rule of eigrp ....and it will not be taken into account of load balancing ...so correct answer is B this question is really a tricky one ...good luck
