Nodes on each subnet open source IP phones, Printers, IP cameras, Access Points and Laptops not using VLANS all devices on the same subnet I wouldnt mind doing VLAN's but not sure since the network is a Hybird of different layer 2 switches (3comm,Linksys, cisco , Dell) being diasy chained thru copper\fuber what would be a good solution to fix these issues?

  4. hey everyone, i have a interview for a network administrator in a week from now. they require Cisco, active directory experience and as well VOIP with ShoreTel I have experience with AD and cisco but dont have any experience with shoretel, I was wondering what any advice anyone can give me and what kind of questions i might be approaching.
  5. hey everyone, we have a Hub and spoke topology in our network where I work at we currently have a bunch of layer 3 switches with routers and other security devices that are all mainly cisco all connected via, t1 lines, cisco wireless athennas , and some fiber with over 24 remote sites but as well have some unique IP telephony hardware that are from ShoreTel we are in a debate right now where we want to pick either the cisco MARS or solar winds or both if necessary to do our network management and troubleshooting on bandwidth issues, VOIP, security events etc but we want to get some feed back from other network personal out there. if anyone can tell me the benefits of having one over the other or their experiences anything will help thanks
  6. Windows Vista is just too different for everyone and has become even more annoying than anything. The only thing I have seen benefit from this OS is that it supports a newer version of direct x that windows XP doesnt. and it also looks pretty and is pretty much a Rip off of MAC since all I hear is complaining about vista, is there any possible way Microsoft can just discontinue the product? or keep windows XP active and not lose its support for it?

  8. Can someone recommend me a network filtering appliance that can filter spyware anti-spam, anti virus etc for over 1,500 nodes. I am looking for something that is the best money isnt the issue I have heard alot of Iron port, light speed, barracoda any recommendations?
  9. you know I wonder but, why is it its rare to see a girl in the IT field? and has any ever confronted a hot one that is more knowledgeable than himself?
  10. in my opinion i say look for the file through command line. DIR , This lists all files including hidden files, does not work in Windows 95 / 98 / NT / 2000.
  11. hey trunks just curious but was this girl attractive in anyway?
  12. wow. thats all i got to say.
  13. hey everyone my company is getting a MARS box in about 2 weeks. what can anyone tell me about it? i have heard different opinions that its just a luxury box. then i hear that its a good device just to see the behavior of the network etc has anyone ever used this before?
  14. Well money is always good. but in the long run you got to think about what you really want in your career. I have a friend who has his CCNP, MCSE and a Bach in CIS and is getting paid around 45-50k a year but the main problem hes having is he isnt doing squat at his job. all he does is basic tech support that a A+ certified professional can do. the sad part about it is that he is forgetting everything he learned and has gotten so laid back with the environment he is working in. so put it this way would you rather put your hard working knowledge that you learned to use and the same time learn new stuff as you go on. or get paid well but be bored by repeating the same thing everyday and not learn anything ?
