  1. Hi There, I'm doing a practice CCIE lab and I'm still struggling a little with the BGP best path selection process. Can anyone tell me what path attribute causes the best route to be selected from the following output? Please note that the router with BGP router-id of is a an IBGP peer. The other two are eBGP peers. Also, why does the route with a next hop of have an empty metric attribute and how is this compared to the metrics of zero? OSPF Partitioned Area 0

I have labed an OSPF network in GNS3 to practice virtual links. On R3 and R4 I have a number of loopback addresses that are advertised as Area 0 networks. GNS3 Lab When the Area 0 link between R0 and R2 goes down, R3 loses its routes to R4 and vice versa. Creating a virtual link between R0 and R2 across Area 3 solves the problem. My question is why do R3 and R4 lose these routes? I can't understand why they would not just become Inter-Area routes across Area 3, as surely R0 still advertises R3s routes to R1 which in turn should advertise them to R2.

    CCVP Lab scenario

Have you tried giving a phone static IP address and TFTP information to see what happens?
