Hello,

I have an issue with my newly purchased(used) 2801 router - it does not recognize my VIC-2FXS and VIC-2FXO cards. It does recognize the 1MFT-T1 though.

System image file is flash:c2801-adventerprisek9-mz.124-5a.bin

The router has 64 Meg Flash and 256 Meg DRAM. Loaded IOS is 12.4(5a)T1 Advanced IP Services with k9 option

The LED's on the cards are orange which means that they are in bootup status or disabled.

SHOW VOICE PORT SUMMARY shows absolutely nothing recognized.

And my second question is : Do I need DSP module for my router or it will run and be powerful enough as is?

I'm not sure VIC-2FXS and VIC-2FXO will work on a 2800.
I think you'll need VIC2-2FXS and VIC2-2FXO

Also, I think you may need to buy some PVDMs for your router.
Something similar is being discussed here...check it out as it may help => Ccvp Lab Setupp Help...., ccvp lab setupp HELP....

Cheers,

And I will get a DSP module i guess.

No sweat Bvlgaro!

Meanwhile, try and issue the show diag command to see if it will tell you about the DSPs/PVDMs on your router.

Cheers,
Skybaba

I will try that as soon as I get home after work.

I was so happy that I got my FXS and FXO cards on ebay on good price of 65$-70$ but now looking at the VIC2 they are 150 a piece. Oh well, I will have to get them I guess.

Thanks man :)

Hi I have just recently purchased a

2801 router
1vic2 - fxo
1vic2 - fxs
1-wic e1
PVDM2-16 FOR DSP
3550 pwr switch (inline power for cisco phones)
2 cisco ip phones (7960)

the 2801 as stated by others will not work with vic-fxo and vic-fxs cards you will also require a pvdm card

The setup is quiet expensive for ccvp compared with other lab setups but if you want to learn this stuff and reap the rewards you need to invest a little

Hope this helps

My VIC Cards are back on ebay now.
Did you needed PVDM2-16 instead of PVDM2-8 , or you just prefer more power?

I see, good, I will probably do the same if I find such an offer. Currently I am watching them and 8 is ~100$ and 16 is 190$-200$
Thanks for the advice:)

hi
fxs and fxo cards should work on the 2801 with the right IOS(stand to be corrected)
as for PVDM8 will work fine 4 a lab, its when u want to run all transcoding, conferencing and MTU's on the local gateway then go for a higher spec DSP.

hope this helps

unfortunatly not the 2801 will only work with the new vic2-fxo and vic2-fxs cards the original vic cards will not work have tried and tested on my 2801 router

i realise the pvdm8 would be fine but saw a good deal on pvdm16 and got that as well but like you said if you need transcodeing etc the higher the better

thanks
