Hello all guys,

I'm not a noobie to linux and using it as my main OS since a long long time :) I'm presently working on Fedora 9 x86 machine, everything is, of course, working smoothly apart a minor annoyance my 2.6 kernel had with my sata discs that was easily, now the problem is my machine is running 4GB memory and I'm gonna upgrade to 8GB very soon so I'll need to switch to a 64bit version of Fedora, yes I know I could mess with PAE etc but... well I prefer to spend my time doing something else ;)

Now I'm writing this as I remember having used Fedora 8 on my Core 2 Duo system with a few problems like mouse hangs, system hangs and a few other amenities I thought it was my system's problem but talking with other guys in the fedora's forums I've found out that a lot of people were having problems... *cough* poor testing *cough*. As you can imagine I would like to avoid all this as I prefer to spend my free time somewhere else and was wondering if anyone is using Fedora 9 x64 on his/her system and if it's running fine, better if you're using a Core 2 Duo processor :)

Thanks in advance guys, I know someone can help me :)

Well it seems I'll have to find out myself :) Next week when I have some spare time I'll upgrade to x64 distro and eventually let you know :)

I'm leaving the topic open in case someone has suggestions.

I am using fedora 8 to type this. I haven't had a single problem with system hangs, video, mouse problems. I have fedora 8 on two quad core systems and a core 2 duo laptop. I use those systems mainly for GNS3 and working in my lab.

I have tried fedora 9, but they moved to a new version of xorg so nvidia and ati drivers currently have limited support.

Thanks for the info :)

Just on a side note, probs with xorg are now solved and there is full support for accelerated drivers as well.

Thakns Rakki but ... hmm keep Ubuntu away from me :) I don't like it as it is too similar to Windows machine, I started with slack and on some of my old boxes I'm still using it, so I usually use Red Hat or Debian depending on what I need to do but no ubuntu please lol

Anyhow I'm gonna install F9 next week and will eventually let you know how it goes, I'm not scared to fix them as I can even learn something in the process... I simply don't want to waste time eheheh.
