Can anybody tell me where I can find the information about different ping replies and their meaning

do you mean ICMP type numbers like "destination unreachable", "fragmentation needed" etc. ? In RFC792.

Hey Metro,
Thanks a lot for that information, cleared most of the doubts
But still can you help me in uderstanding the ping replies we get while pinging from a router or firewall
means sometimes we get successfull reply as all exclamations (!!!!!) sometimes we get something like (U.U.U)
Once while pinging an IP address from a Firewall I got rely as (?????)
Can you please help me with this?

i have 1 question which is not related to this topic...
why every single url must be converted to hxxp instead of http..

i got 30% warning because of this... should i replace every single http with hxxp when trying to post/reply to this forum..

hmm...never saw something like that before...do u have a screenshot to share?

Normally this is the common reply that we get when do a ping

"Request time out" means your host has a route to the destination, but the destination doesn't respond.

"Destination host unreachable" means there is no route to the destination.

By replacing the http with hxxp it stop it being a live link. Live links shouldn't be included within posts.

U.U.U is a fancy thing , actually is a simple "Destination unreachable" UUUUU filtered with ICMP rate-limiting which ends up U.U.U
