what do the questions consist of? is the material current or is the test based on "not so current" material?

vmware.com ... Check out their certification section, and pay close attention to the VCP Exam Blueprint (link will be in the column on the right side of the page, in bold text.) That blueprint lists all of the objectives of the exam, along with which resources you can refer to in order to gain the necessary knowledge for the exam. It does not guarantee that you will pass the exam. It is strongly recommended that you have some real-world experience with the appropriate products before you attempt to pass the exam.
NOTE: Passing just the exam does not make you a VCP either. You also need to complete one of VMware's VI3 courses. This, and more info, can be found on their website.
