After much overkill studying I passed this exam this morning. I was nervous because of how much this thing cost $208 and there was no free retake like MS exams.

The materials I used.

CBT Nuggets that i converted the audio into mp3s so I could listen to them during my commute.

Security+ 4th Edition - Sybex
Security+ Review Guide - Sybex

Some material from The Exam Cram 2 security+ book.

The free Beach Front quizzer application my company had access to.

I used an unusual approach to studying. My reading comprehension has always been so-so since college. Especially when it is material that is super bland like this stuff.

I put the PDF on a vista computer and had MS Michelle read the whole sybex book while I recorded the output to a wma file. I used Movie maker to edit the file into chapters. The total length of time to read all of it aloud was about 18 hours.

Most of the time it was understandable but there were certain quirks. Using MSMichelle was actually a workaround as I originally wanted to record it myself but I got a sore throat/cold. When I recovered I started to read/record with my own voice/listen to these files via mp3 player since I am trapped in my car due to a commute for 2-4 hours a day.

I focused on the material I felt I was weakest on and this strategy seems to have paid off.

I have not been on this forum in a while since I have not had the time to schedule the next round of certifications. I had some messages in my inbox.

Hi,

Read your post in the seuriy+ certification forum. I am also having plans to take up security+ certification. would need your help to forward me the audio file you prepare please. Otherwise i am planning to go through sybex security+ preparation guide and practise few dumps. Please do the needful,

Thanks & regards,
Kaviks
