Raid Upgrade Question - no more space

Recommended Posts

Our server is running out of the space on our RAID 5 volume.

We have two partition: C and E. both are pretty low.

We have HP RAID Controller with 3 72GB SAS drives into RAID 5.

Any suggestions? How do we go about and doing this?

Should we by 3 bigger SAS drives?

Or should we buy couple of BIG SATA drive with SATA RAID controller.

What program can we use to image and restore?

Thank you

Hi

Based on my experience you cannot expand the capacity of drive C: if it is on Raid. You can only expand your Drive E:

As you have 3 75GB HDD configured in RAID 5 then just purchase another 75GB HDD SAS drive with the same spindle speed as of your existing harddisk.

Before you do the expansion of your Drive E: make sure you have a complete backup of you're system.

Does it have to be the same size too? So I can add as many 75GB I want?

Also would you recommend using Acronis to configure all the partitions and expansions?

Thanks
