I am a holder of B.Sc. Computer Science and M.Sc. Information Systems from a regionally accredited on-campus university in the U.S. and been working since 1998. I did programming initially but moved to systems / networking doing Support in many roles and some migration / setup etc. Now I'm in a Supervisory position and considering PMP on the infrastructure side whether it is good. Does it require re-certification and if so after how many years.
Thank you in advance for suggestions on this.

Does it require re-certification... Yes. Or 60 hours of certified study.
...and if so after how many years. Three
I took the 5-day class offered by CertTest of Texas (hxxp://www.certtest.com/schedule/pmp) and found I did not need any other study guides...
I don't get paid to say that. I am not affiliated with them. I only mention them because (1) it's a great class and (2) we all need to help each other get and keep our jobs...

Download the PMP Handbook. Refer to the CCR section. Pg. 37 to 40
At a high level, here you go:
Category A: Courses offered by PMI's R.E.P.s, chapters and communities
PDU Rule- 1 hour of instruction = 1 PDU
Category B: Continuig Education
PDU Rule- 1 hour of instruction = 1 PDU
Category C: Self-Directed Learning
PDU Rule- 1 hour of instruction = 1 PDU (only a max of 30 per 3 yr certification cycle)
Category D: Creating New Project Management Knowledge
PDU Rule- 1 hour of instruction = 1 PDU
Category E: Volunteer Service
PDU Rule- 1 hour of instruction = 1 PDU (for non-compensated service and must serve in this role for 3 months min)
Category F: Working as a PMP
PDU Rule- 15 PDUs per 3 yrs
And you have to do this within the 3 year span and apply in the PMI site.
