Hi guys!!!.

I hope someone can helpme with this idea of get some software, to make this.

Situation:

In my company the say to me: Hey Andy, today we going to install a 3525 with X cards in the country Mexico, tomorrow we going to install a 2911 with 2 PVDM + E1/PBX in australia.

So what i do, it's prepare the templates configuration for this devices by HAND!. and i belive i'm truly positive that it has to exist some software that i select the plataform then i select the cards after this i can create more accurate configuration for the technician on site.

I was looking some application and i saw, CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 4.0, WinAgents IOS Config Editor,

Do you know some other software to kept my premise.

Thanks a lot ! :D

what you should really only worry about is a default route, an outbound interface and line passwords. there is nothing else the remote hands needs to have. And there is absolutely no software that will magically guess what you want to configure based on modules. If there was I software that would magically know what to configure, why would they care to employ you?
The only time templates or software helps is when you have to install 100 identical routers to different locations.

Hi, Chrcel,

thanks for your response. i'm not hopping some magic application, what i need is some software simulate the plataform and i add some cards compatible with that plataform, based on that creating a template of configuration.

i understand your point of view regarding why they employme, but it's part of my job to create this template and that's why i want to be more accurate with the configs for the tech on-site.

Thanks

Gardener,
well if you're any good at programming why not program it yourself. As I said above what is a point of creating a template for one time installation. For these scenarios the config should have been prepared in the design phase, but we all know how seldom this happens and how expensive, stressful and error prone it is to create configs ad hoc. Once you have to have to create configurations for several sites, excel or word macros are you friends, they pretty good at creating lots of similar configurations.
cheers

I'm not sure if you're still looking for a tool to generate configurations.. but I just released a web app that enables you to generate text-based configurations for almost anything. For a long time I was using text files with defined variables and using find/replace. www.hatchconfigs.com
