MCSA exams

6 posts in this topic

Hi,

In November 27, 2008 i passed 70-290 exam and became MCP, in December 19, 2008 passed 70-620 and became MCTS. After that passed 70-284 and stopped. I was one exam close to MCSA. After almost two years i want my MCSA but as i understand 70-284 exam is scheduled for discontinuation on March 31, 2011. I don't understand the meaning for discontinuation. Does it mean that i need to pass two more exams (because 70-284 is no longer valid) to become MCSA or only one that's left for me (70-291)?

Is there an upgrade exam to MCSA 2008 server?

You will need to pass 70-291 , after that there is an upgrade route to 2008 by taking 70-648 (60-640 and 70-642) after than go for MCITP:EA or MCITP:SA whichever makes your best choice!

MCITP: Server Administrator

-Prerequisite MCTS certification : 70-640, 70-642

-Professional Series exams : 70-646

Transition path for an MCSA 2003

-Prerequisite MCTS certification : 70-648

-Professional Series exams : 70-646

Transition path for an MCSE 2003

-Prerequisite MCTS certification : 70-649

-Professional Series exams : 70-646

I'm not sure if i understand. If i have MCSA 2003 and want to be MCITP:SA i have to take 70-648 and 70-646? What does it mean prerequisite MCTS certification and Professional series exams. What's the difference between them?

Thanks.

Yea that is right, if you have MCSA 2003 right now, you will need to pass both 70-648 and 70-646 to become a MCITP:SA

It means with out the prerequisite MCTS exam, you will not be recongnised as MCITP:SA

Hi michealsofia.

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) - Low-moderate level

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) - High level

But today you need to do an MCITP :) The windows server 2003 certifications are the best to start but now all start from win 2008 .

Good luck .
