Backbone Router Advice

3 posts in this topic

Hi,

I am studying for the CCIE R&S lab, and I am using the Narbik Advanced Technology workbook. I've looked through some other threads on this forum and see recommendations of using the Cisco 2505 for the backbone routers. Will I have any problems running all the labs on these routers, such as IPv6? I know the 3550s may also have some issues with IPv6, has anyone ran into any problems doing the IPv6 Narbik's labs on these switches? I'm also looking into a secondary workbook such as Cisco 360 or INE, any recommendations would be welcomed.

My current setup is:

4x2811

2x3550

1x3560

1x2610xm w/ NM-8A/S (Frame Relay Switch)

1xAS2511

I am plan on buying two more 2811 and another 3560.

Thanks

2505 does not support IPv6 that I am aware of.

Who uses ipv6 on the bb routers?

Extra expense.

Narbik's workbook uses IPv6 on both the BB1 & BB2 and all of the switches. I haven't actually done these lab, just skimmed through them. The feature navigator for that 12.2T and 12.3 IOS images does show some support for IPv6, but I'm not sure if it is enough to complete these labs. I have a couple of 2610xm, and NM-2E2W are pretty cheap so I may go that route just to be safe.

Thanks
