I have some inquiries regarding PMP/CAPM.

I'm registered for a PMP course at one of the REPs in UAE, as a requirment by the company that I work for.
So this can't be changed to a CAPM which is more suitable for me.

I'm not currently eligible for a PMP certificate enrollment......I don't have enough PM experience

1- As far as I understood, I can apply for CAPM exam with my university certificate & 23 hours of project management education, so in my case the PMP course will provide the sufficient education hours, so can I apply afterwards to the CAPM exam ?

2- After earning the CAPM, I have to obtain 4500 hours of leading and directing projects, so will I be eligible to set for PMP if I did ?

3- Out of these 4500 hours required, can I participate in any of the PMI activities to earn credit towards the certification or they are only for maintaining the certification I achieve ?

As mentioned earlier, this PMP course is required by the company I currently work for, so I want to seize the chance to obtain PMP, what would be the different scenarios for me to acheive PMP?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

Hi tronky,

I will try to answer your questions:
1- Yes. Your PMP course will provide the contact hours required by PMI.
2- When you have the project management experience required by PMI you will can be elegible for PMP exam, passing the process for elegibity.
3- PMI activities will help you to maintain your certification, but it doesn't give you experience hours.

If you want to be a PMP, you need the experience required. There is not a shortcut.

Hope this helps.
