Hi everyone, I am going to take my CCNP certification for the second time and I am leaning towards taking securities. A friend told me I can take CCNA security and that will recertify my CCNP. I need advice as to what is the best in job market and what I should take for my recertification. Thanks everyone.

As in its official site, Cisco states that:

To recertify, pass ONE of the following before the certification expiration date:

  • Pass any current 642-XXX Professional level exam, or
  • Pass any current CCIE Written Exam,
  • Pass the current CCDE Written Exam, or CCDE Practical Exam, or
  • Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) interview AND the CCAr board review to extend lower certifications.

So I guess CCNA security won't recertify your CCNP.
