Hello everyone!

So I went to upgrade a switch IOS for a Cisco 3750G and by accident I put the wrong IOS on it. It didn't have enough space to install the new(wrong) IOS on it alongside the old one so I deleted the tar file of the original IOS. After a restart it wouldn't boot off of the new IOS since it was incorrect.

I went into the switch: mode by holding the "mode" button on the front and tried to do a flash_init to initialize the flash. I then encountered a couple of errors

switch: flash_init
Initializing Flash...
flashfs: shadow_verify: mending data @ 0x5a193a4.
flashfs[0]: error initializing the root directory.
...done Initializing Flash.

switch: dir

List of filesystems currently registered:

flash[0]: (read-write)
vb[1]: (read-write)
bs[2]: (read-only)
xmodem[3]: (read-only)
null[4]: (read-write)

switch:

I googled the errors and came up with nothing so I thought I would give you guys a shout and see if anyone had any ideas to try.

Thanks!

so you do not have IOS on flash?; anyway, you may want to try
switch: fsck -test flash:
or /and
format flash with switch:format flash:

I ran

format flash:

Then the flash initialized just fine and the switch accepted the Xmodem transfer.

Thank you for the help!
