Windows Server 2012 or 2016 certification path ?

2 posts in this topic

Hello,

I'm planning on getting a MCSA: Windows Server certification.

I was wondering if it would be better to start studying for Windows Server 2012 r2 and then take one single exam to upgrade my skills to Windows Server 2016, or skip the WS 2012 certification path.

Accordingly to my experience, the upgrade path to Windows Serve 2016 on enterprise environments will be slow, and the Windows Server 2012 certification will add the knowledge for a more widespread os.

Your valuable suggestions are welcomed.

I'd say stick to 2016 since the it will serve you the longest and be in the hottest demand.

If you have access to 2012 then that's ok and won't go wasted but after a lifetime in the industry I have learned that early adopters get paid a lot more money and play with the coolest tools...

Up to you...
