I see soooo many many posts now and that gives me a good feeling!! Still I'm very positive that there are just a couple giving the effort to reply eventhough they might be busy or whatever..
So, just share your thoughts, make it relevant to this part of the forum and make it one of the richest corners of Sadikhov's Imperium!!!
Let's keep eachother motivated!!

Damn, I could need someone motivating me really bad.

And all the time the phone's ringing with another idiot not capable to do anything without asking others. I'll become paranoid about a ringing phone for sure - it doesn't take much more I fear ...
At the moment, nearly the only way to get the damn stuff out of my head for a few hours is putting other stuff into me at my favourite pub. I'm short of calling it my living-room.
I gave up wondering why I not even got finished reading all the books 8 months after the written exam. I'm happy if I can get hold on (better: having read) a hundred pages a week.
I'm reading (and sometimes posting) on sadikhov's far too often and spend too much time. But it's a good diversion.

I might be one of the view who might be able to give you that boost again, this forum is full of awesome engineers who like to brainstorm and trying to keep you awake while you still have to go through your books..!
But....after the last post from lance in my diary-section, I started to realise that it REALLY doesn't matter what the rest would say or think about my actions and my goals in life(okay, only the ones paying me).
Maybe this thought might help you as well: It's all about determination. It's all about mentality and furthermore it's all about seeing the big picture. The big picture of peeps who were smiling, grinning and even talking about you behind your back and calling you crazy but also the ones who kept believing in you or just gave you the words that you at the time needed to hear. This big picture is keeping me driven towards my goal. I don't need no support from my wife, my friends or my boss, they all consider me crazy to invest much time and pretty less ignore them most of time because I'm in my own world.
This is my decision to act like this at times, especially when I need to think things through. Once I pass the Lab there will be enough time to make it up to them as I don't hate or disslike anybody outthere..... it's just....you know...
So anyone reading this, we have to do it ourselves, still it would be nice if we all would tell our story so we also can realize we battling the same demons from time to time

Here's my CCIE plan for the next 18 months or so:
- finish QoS, BGP, MPLS exams (going for R&S, but I feel these are fundamental to doing the job)
- complete some IP Telephony and wireless exames (again, I feel these skills and this knowledge are critical - and by the time I get to an R&S CCIE lab in 2 years, these may well be required)
- lots of reading and practice. Some lab prep courses - live and written
- maybe take Cisco's prep exam and something like Heinz Ulm's Mock Labs
- master Doc CD (universcd) w/o Help or Search
- as much hands-on experience on all basic configs - learn at least 2 ways of doing everything, if possible
So that's my motivation story. I miss Darby's diary (wrote him separately), and I enjoy gordonccie's input tremendously. There are apparently a lot of knowledgeable engineers and techs on this site - so I am glad to be here. And I am glad to get away from the "how many TK questions were on the exam?" crowd ;-)
Bill
- keeping options open, flexible for changes as needed.

I am in the military right now working with secure networks and i get out in a year to start in the "real" world. The experience that i have gained from that as well as this forum has really helped me in numerous situations. I applaud those that are here that are really trying to learn the information and not just out there to have some papers that say they are qualified but they are not. I plan on studying every day for as long as it takes to get that FIRST IE#. Thanks to all for your input!

It’s nice to know all of you and I just passed R&S Written today. I will prepare the coming lab exam by Simulation 7200 first, which is very cool for the routing labs. And then I will join a training center to do the last effort.
I haven't an Original community of English.
Hope you can understand me.
Best regards,

nobody understands except my virtual friends
everybody thinks I'm crazy... my house is full of routers, switches and old big 520 PIX firewall boxes
girlfriend calls them "toys" she doesn't realize that by getting ccie I will get a much better position than my current low paid one, not just passing the lab, but the confidence its bringing me day by day.
we need to stick together. with only 16K CCIE's and probably a thousand (more? less?) WORLDWIDE seriously studying for the labs... there are aren't many of us around....
good luck guys!
ps. yes gordonccie... security track....
